So I'm hoping it's just because of the holidays and stuff, but it seems like there's been a decrease in page views and comments the past week or so. Now obviously I don't do Angry Faerie JUST for comments and page views, but they are certainly a motivation. Knowing people are reading and liking the strip are one of the things that make doing AF worthwhile.

On a different topic, the other day my friend Ray and I were having a discussion on Facebook. I'd shared an illustration that George Perez (My Art God) and at one point George Perez himself interjected into the discussion, which would have been cool enough. However this morning (I'm writing this on Thursday) I received a Facebook message from Mr. Perez himself, who took the time to just thank me for being such a big fan and he wished me an early Happy Birthday since he'll be out of the country when by actual birthday roles around. To say I was thrilled is an understatement. It was a short message, but to have George Perez thank me for being a fan? He didn't have to take his time to do it, but it's just another reason why I'm a fan of his.

Anyway... in regards to today's AF: Yep, that skull-decorated wall is certainly something new for Bullfinch. Was it built by the owner of the local Chinese wall to keep out the mongolians? (yes, that's a South Park reference). Ok, probably not... BUT there is a reason, which will be revealed soon.

Have a Happy (and safe) New Year and hope to see you all again on Monday.

I wouldn't stress about comment drops.
Not many people commented over the holidays :P

Except when I did my awards comic, but that was special.

I am reading and liking this.

Also rating.

...and commenting, apparently.

That's really cool, by the way - the George Perez thing; I'm envious.

Congratulations on the Perez Birthday Wish!

I love the wall; it is very menacing. You are developing a very evocative atmosphere in your comic as it evolves, so keep it up!

@MatthewJa, yeah, I shouldn't worry about the comments and stuff, but sometimes I have the typical artist need for feedback and when I don't get it I get all whiney. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes....

@DSW - thanks... I plan to have a happy birthday, but it's still two weeks ago. We'll see what happens.

@Jrade - I'm glad you're both liking and reading the comic. The George Perez was very cool. It really made my day (and several days actually).

@David- The wall is meant to be menacing, so I'm glad that came across. Clearly it's not designed to keep out muppets :)

I'm the first one to comment in 2011!! (Only because I FORGOT yesterday was Friday) George IS a cool guy..I'm one of his facebook friends and he's done White Owl art--like someone else I know. AF hasn't been away from Bulfinch THAT long--So I'm guessing some magical wall too. Merlin perhaps?

And is this a wall to keep bad things out? Or to keep people IN (ala Berlin?)

Happy New Year Scott! Keep writing and drawing because I LOVE the Angry Faerie. Theena

@White Owl - wait... you got George Perez to do a sketch for you? I must hunt you down and kill you out of jealousy. Beyond that, there is definitely a reason for the wall, and it will all be revealed.

I love the skull placement on the wall. It's reminding me of the set designs for MediEvil (I may be the only person who played that game, but I'm a sucker for any hero that takes his arm off and beats people with it).
